"Speck is the most delicious looking Italian Deli"
as described by Qantas in the May 2001 issue of their magazine, The Autralian Way
As long as you accept that it's "widely expensive", reporters speak nothing but good of this small and chich Italian delicatessen in Holland Park; "amazing soups and pasta" are highlights of the home-made dishes on offer, but if you want to DIY they offer everything "from olives to fine Italian wines"; fans say that quality throughout is "excellent".
Harden's London Food Shops 2002/03
"The sleek denizens of Holland Park naturally demand more from their delis, and Speck is the sine qua non of Italian catering and groceries... Handmade tortelloni of spinach and ricotta, artichokes, porcini or gorgonzola are favourites among the fresh pasta. Weekends always see a rush for the giant tiger prawns pan-fried with garlic, parsley and chilli. Speck's soups came away with several gold and silver medals at last year's Great Taste Awards, and the deli is a rare supplier of own-made chicken stock.
